My Courses
Trudi has several options when it comes to studying online from shorter, on demand, self-study courses to longer, instructor led, interactive courses.
At Understand Horses, Trudi has courses on training your horse, starting with planning and motivation leading up to training specific movements using positive reinforcement-based techniques. If you want to brush up your positive reinforcement-based training then these are the courses for you.
At the IAABC Foundation, Trudi’s courses are more behaviour based looking at current knowledge regarding pain and behaviour and her latest course with vet Gabriel Lencioni which looks at cooperative care training for husbandry behaviours.

I appreciate Trudi’s excellent presentations; well arranged, just enough information at a pace that’s just right, in do-able time blocks, with nearly poetic wording and diction. The graphics make the concepts clear – even concepts I thought I understood before were made more clear to me in the first week of the course. I look forward to each lesson to strengthen my theory and practice.
I enjoyed this course very much! Trudi is a wonderful teacher, and her obvious enjoyment of the subject matter makes the course even better. The lack of pressure and abundance of support made this course achievable and fun! I would take this course and any other course that Trudi conducts over and over. Can’t wait for the next one!

AN INTRODUCTION TO TRAINING HORSES WITH FOOD
This is an On Demand Course
Course Description
Would you like to learn how to train horses with food safely and effectively?
How we handle and train our horses is extremely important, not just for our horse’s welfare but also for the effect that it has on our relationship and our safety. More horse owners and trainers are looking for humane, compassionate methods of training so positive reinforcement (reward-based training) using food is becoming more popular.
This course is an introduction to training horses with food. Trudi discusses the pros and cons of training using food rewards, as well as giving you tips on how to improve your training skills and troubleshoot any problems you may be having.
This course is aspirational as well as inspirational and whilst based on solid science, Trudi has succeeded in making it understandable entertaining and educational. The videos add enormous value and demonstrate the subtle behaviours both we and the horse show each other, thereby introducing increased awareness of self, the horse, environment, and well-being for both. More importantly Trudi gives us the tools to progress with positivity if things go a little awry. Trudi has an innate ability to understand humans and equines working together making her the perfect trainer and presenter for this course I highly recommend this course.

I found this course really inspiring and it has given me a lot of food for thought. I have found in my day-to-day training I can look at the positives, even if small, and I can reflect and see how far we’ve come.
